Narrative
A ranching family in Montana fights against encroachments on their land. Forrie J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and goes back to his normal Southern California voice. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Summer TV Shows You Missed (2018).
This series has been running since 2018, but this is the first time I’ve watched it
Last night I finished watching the first episode of the first season, which lasts just under 90 minutes. The Dutton family is introduced: They have a lot of influence in their valley, but are fighting back against “attacks.” One comes from developers who want to build condos. Another comes from the neighboring Indian reservation and wants to get some of their land and some cattle back. To deal with all of this and the massive size of his ranch, Dutton (authentically played by the 60-something Kevin Costner) has several grown cowboy sons and a helicopter with a dedicated pilot.
They must have stopped when they reached Montana
I watched the first episode of the first season (on Peacock streaming) to get a feel for the Dutton family, as I’m currently binge-watching the ten episodes of the newer Taylor Sheridan show “1883,” which is something of a prequel. It was (fictionally) in 1883 when the Dutton family from Tennessee joined a larger group to travel “somewhere west” in a covered wagon from Fort Worth, Texas. Again, this is all fiction, but if we consider the ages of the men and the fact that Costner was born in 1955, his character in “1883” would likely be the great-great-grandson of the Dutton patriarch (played by Tim McGraw). E.g.
with sons born around 1875, 1900, 1925 and in the 1950s
Yellowstone is a really good show, the actors are all first class, the cinematography and sound are excellent. It’s just not the kind of show that I could keep hooked and watch over and over again. It’s hard to find characters with good qualities and I can’t really enjoy shows that are constantly about arguing and fighting and often killing. Now in my 70s I prefer to spend my time watching ‘enjoyable’ stories.
NB – 1883 is a really good and interesting show that authentically portrays the great hardships involved in uprooting one’s roots and traveling through unfamiliar territory to try and find a new life in a new place
Media pundit Muncie Daniels must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos.. Colman Domingo’s first leading TV role.. Started with plenty of promise but the story was unnecessarily dragged out with far too many episodes!! Half of the episodes would have succeeded imo.The main character pmo. He’s supposed to be highly regarded and intelligent but kept making one bad choice after another which (I think) helped undermine his credibility.I appreciated the concept of the show – exposing corruption and showing how ordinary people can be caught in the crossfire of systemic greed and political schemes. And also highlighting the dangers of unchecked corporate influence!! But the execution was a little disappointing.

Arcane tells the story of two young orphaned sisters growing up and getting into trouble in the twin cities of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it drops you right into this fictional world, the necessary time and care is given to setting up the locations and the characters in a commendable show-don’t-tell style. The solid character development and world-building means that this is a thoroughly enjoyable watch without knowing anything about the game. The animation is just about perfect.
There’s incredible attention to detail
As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be far superior to anything I’ve ever seen in an animated series. It’s clear that no artistic talent or financial expense was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life. A great soundtrack, great acting, and a gripping story that won’t offend any of the violence and more adults. themes.
Only the first three episodes have been released so far, and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us!

The idea was suggested by producer David Brown, who said he's seen something similar in Skin Deep (1998), a foreign alternative movie starring the actor and singer Gustavo Goulart ; An American term that didn't come into use until the 19th Century.. The opening song changes from season to season to reflect what's happening in the story line. In the first half of Season 2 (which is set in France), part of the lyrics are in French.
Featured in Outlander: An Epic Adaptation (2015)
In the second half of Season 2 (which is mostly about preparing for war), there is a militaristic drum roll added to the opening song. During Season 3, there are tribal drums added because much of the season is set in the West Indies. In Season 4, bluegrass fiddle and banjos are added, plus some of the lyrics are sung with a Southern accent because the season is set mostly in America..
The first two seasons were amazing
The Skye Boat Song(uncredited)Traditional Scottish Air with lyrics by Sir Harold BoultonNew lyrics by Robert Louis Stevenson. However, it took a huge nosedive after season 3 and became really boring.Brianna and Rodger are really annoying and Brianna especially is hard to watch sometimes .It's really disappointing because it was such an amazing show. I did watch season 4 and still me of season 5 but it just became apparent that it was never going to get its magic back.
So I've quit the showNot sure if it's the same story as the book but I did but the books and think I'm going to read those instead
