I enjoyed reading the Alex Cross series by James Patterson
Narrative
A series adaptation of James Patterson’s novel about the complicated and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to portray Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman who first portrayed him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which bombed at the box office and led Lionsgate to abandon a previously planned sequel to Double Cross.
Aldis Hodge is the perfect Alex Cross
As a fan of the character, when I heard the books were being turned into a series, I was worried that everything I loved about the books and the characters would be destroyed like most movie/TV series adaptations tend to be. I can say that my worries are unfounded.
That duality is key to an authentic portrayal of Cross
Hodge possesses a powerful physical presence that is key to the character, who is often portrayed as both a brilliant thinker and a man who can hold his own in physical confrontations. His performance reflects a deep understanding of James Patterson’s novels.
His performance is likely to appeal to longtime fans of the character as well as newcomers
He captures the essence of Cross’s character as a brilliant detective driven by a strong sense of justice. Overall, Hodge’s portrayal of Alex Cross combines skillful acting with a strong emotional core, making him an excellent choice for the series.
Cross captures the essence of James Patterson’s novel with captivating storytelling, character depth, and a suspenseful plot that will appeal to longtime fans and new viewers alike
